AT THE SAME time as the police in Austria and Great Britain in the end of September raided suspects in the bribery scandal there was a previously unknown simultaneous raid at the Swiss premises of the Austrian businessman Kurt Dalmata. This is according to sources to SVT: s Uppdrag granskning and the Austrian magazine Profil. The raid against Dalmata means that yet another country is added to the list of where the police have performed arrests, searches and interrogations in the investigation surrounding the sale of the Swedish jet-fighter Gripen to the Czech republic and Hungary. THE INVESTMEN consultant Kurt Dalmata, is one of eleven persons named by Britain?s Special Fraud Office (SFO) as suspects in the bribery case. Dalmata appears in commercial registers predominantly in connection with so called "penny stocks" (stocks with extremely low value which are prone to speculation). Despite various requests from Uppdrag granskning Dalmata didn?t want to comment neither on the raid nor on possible connections with SAAB, the Gripen sale or BAE Systems. THE RAID on Dalmata was performed at the same time as the raid on Alfons Mensdorff-Pouilly, SAAB: s agent in the Gripen deal with the Czech Republic on the 24:th of September. According to information to Uppdrag granskning Dalmatas name features frequently in documents relating to the sale of the Gripen to the Czech Republic - a sale where the Austrian Alfons Mensdorff-Pouilly was hired by SAAB and British BAE Systems as a secret sales agent. Mensdorff was to receive 540 million SEK for his services. Another agent was promised 400 million SEK in similar contracts. MENSDORFF was also a secret agent for the Gripen in Hungary according to the contracts seen by Uppdrag granskning. SAAB AB has declined to comment on the arrests and raids on their agents. - We have no new comments, we don?t have any comments at all to what has happened, says Cecilia Schön Jansson, director of communications at SAAB to Uppdrag granskning.
