According to newspaper Expressen the three FBI agents were involved in the arrest of the postgraduate student Wednesday morning.
– This was probably due to the crime classification regarding war equipment and the suspicions of preparation to spread poison, a source says to the newspaper.
The press officer at Uppsala police department, however, has no knowledge of FBI:s involvement in the case, according to the newspaper.
Arrested at his home
The man, who is a postgraduate student at Uppsala University, was arrested by local police and is a suspect of blackmail and preparation to spread poison. The man is supposed to have sold substances, one of which is classified as a chemical weapon.
The student was arrested Wednesday morgning at his place of residence.
The postgraduate student is also a suspect of drug offence and for breaking the law regarding war equipment, apart from the suspicions of blackmail and spread of poison.
One substance classified as chemical weapon
The local police are saying that the man has been trading drugs and poisonous substances. On one occasion he is supposed to have sent a toxic substance as part of a blackmail matter. The local police have released information that one of the substances that the man has been trading online is classified as a chemical weapon.
– The man's arrest was undramatic. He will be interrogated this morning, says Christer Nordström, press officer at the Uppsala police department.
